Who it’s for

For college and university students entering measurement science

If you’re in a metrology, precision-manufacturing, quality, or engineering-technology program, the Student Plan is your around-the-clock study partner. It explains the concepts your coursework assumes, walks you through the calculations step by step, and gets you ready for the ASQ Certified Calibration Technician exam โ€” all grounded in the same standards the profession runs on.

Four ways to learn

One tutor, four learning modes

Switch between modes depending on what you need โ€” understand an idea, grind through a problem, prep for the exam, or find the right clause in a standard.

MODE 01

Concept

Clear, patient explanations of the fundamentals โ€” measurement traceability, uncertainty, ISO/IEC 17025, the SI units, and core calibration principles โ€” pitched to your level.

TraceabilityUncertaintySI unitsISO/IEC 17025
MODE 02

Problems

Numerical problems worked through one step at a time โ€” uncertainty budgets, Test Uncertainty Ratio (TUR), and unit conversions โ€” so you learn the method, not just the answer.

MODE 03

Exam Prep

Prepare for the ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) exam with practice questions, Body-of-Knowledge-aligned drills, and a 110-question mock exam โ€” each with detailed explanations.

MODE 04

Documents

Use Document Navigator to ask about the standards directly โ€” locate and understand ISO/IEC 17025:2017 clauses and the NIST GUM, with answers tied to the source text.

Why do we multiply combined uncertainty by a coverage factor of k = 2?
MET
Great question. The combined standard uncertainty uc is roughly one standard deviation of your result. On its own that only describes about a 68% interval. To report a range you can be confident in, you scale it by a coverage factor k to get the expanded uncertainty U = k ยท uc. For a result that’s approximately normal, k = 2 gives a coverage probability of about 95% โ€” which is why you see it on most calibration certificates.
