How can we help you?
Find answers about MetTutor v3.0 — from getting started and activating your license to learning modes, the MetLibrary, plans, exports, and troubleshooting.
MetTutor is an AI-powered metrology learning and reference platform built specifically for the measurement science community. Every answer is grounded in the MetLibrary — a curated Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) knowledge base of 15,000+ indexed chunks from internationally recognized metrology standards. Every response cites its source standard and clause.
MetTutor serves calibration technicians, metrology engineers, quality professionals, certification candidates preparing for the ASQ CCT exam, students in metrology and engineering programs, K–12 learners (via the MET Field Guide persona), laboratory managers, training coordinators, and organizations managing competency development across teams.
MetTutor operates as two complementary sites. MetTutor.com is the storefront — plan comparison, pricing, license purchase, billing, renewals, and cancellation all happen here. MetTutor.ai is the classroom — the AI tutor, practice tools, skills, document generation, and team management all happen here.
When you purchase a plan on MetTutor.com, you receive an API license code. You apply this code on MetTutor.ai to unlock your plan’s features. Your license is a self-contained token — no synchronization between the two systems is needed.
There are three paths to get started:
Path 1: Try it free (Explorer) — Go to mettutor.ai and click Create Account. Enter your email, create a password, confirm via verification email, and start learning. Explorer is permanently free with no credit card required.
Path 2: Purchase a license (Individual) — Visit mettutor.com/plans and choose Student or Professional. Complete checkout to receive your license code. Create a MetTutor.ai account, paste your license code on the Account page, and your plan activates instantly.
Path 3: Set up a team — Purchase a Team Manager or Organization license on mettutor.com/plans. Activate your admin license on MetTutor.ai (includes a Professional seat). Purchase member licenses separately, then invite team members by email from the Team Dashboard.
Method A: Activation Link — If you already have a MetTutor.ai account, click “Activate My License” on your MetTutor.com order confirmation page or in your activation email. MetTutor.ai validates your license and applies your plan automatically.
Method B: License Code Paste — Create a MetTutor.ai account if you don’t have one. Go to your MetTutor.com order page (My Account → Orders), click “Copy License Code,” then on MetTutor.ai go to your Account page, paste the license code, and click Apply License. Your plan upgrades instantly.
Yes. The Explorer plan is designed for learners with no prior background — and it’s permanently free. MetTutor’s Concept mode leads with intuitive explanations and real-world analogies before introducing formal definitions and mathematical frameworks. A recommended starting question: “What is metrology and why does measurement accuracy matter?”
As your knowledge grows, the same platform scales with you — from foundational questions to advanced GUM uncertainty analysis and ISO 17025 clause interpretation.
Yes. MetTutor.ai is fully responsive and runs in any modern browser on desktop, tablet, or smartphone. No app download required. Session history synchronizes across all devices automatically. Optimized for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari.
Concept Coach — Clear, cited explanations of metrology principles, standard requirements, and technical terms. Available on all plans.
Problem Solver — Step-by-step numerical work: uncertainty budgets, TUR assessments, unit conversions, Gage R&R, and calibration interval calculations. Paste your own data and MetTutor solves with your numbers. Available on all plans.
Exam Prep — ASQ CCT exam preparation with practice questions, BoK-aligned drills, the 125-question mock exam, SM-2 spaced repetition, and mastery badges. Explorer gets 3 daily quiz questions; Student+ unlocks the full engine. Available on all plans.
Document Navigator — Structured exploration of MetLibrary standards by clause. Upload documents for compliance analysis against ISO 17025, Z540.3, GUM, and other standards. Available on Professional+.
Concept Coach covers the full breadth of metrology science grounded in the MetLibrary: measurement fundamentals and SI units (VIM JCGM 200:2012), metrological traceability (ISO 17025 §6.6), measurement uncertainty (GUM methodology — Type A/B evaluation, propagation, coverage factors, Welch-Satterthwaite), ISO 17025:2017 clause-by-clause guidance (§4–§8), calibration principles (TUR, guard banding, decision rules per Z540.3), and measurement system analysis (Gage R&R per AIAG MSA).
Exam Prep mode is built around the ASQ CCT Body of Knowledge. The adaptive practice engine tracks your performance by domain and automatically focuses drilling on your weakest areas. Every question includes a full rationale with citations explaining why the correct answer is right and why incorrect options are wrong.
Student+ plans unlock the full engine: unlimited daily quiz, the 125-question timed mock exam (matching real exam format), SM-2 spaced repetition with goal-date pacing, BoK-aligned practice drills, mastery badges, and the Study Achievement Record (PDF).
Yes. Switch between Concept, Problems, Exam Prep, and Documents modes at any point without losing session history. A common workflow: start in Concept mode to understand a topic, switch to Problems mode to work through a calculation, then use Documents mode to verify the result format against ISO 17025 reporting requirements.
The MetLibrary is MetTutor’s dedicated RAG knowledge base — 15,000+ curated, version-controlled chunks from internationally recognized metrology standards. When you ask a question, MetTutor retrieves the most relevant passages from the MetLibrary first, then generates a response grounded in those retrieved sources — not from general internet knowledge.
This architecture eliminates the primary risk of general-purpose AI: hallucinated or unverifiable answers. Every response cites the specific standard, clause, section, or definition number.
The MetLibrary includes eight authoritative standards families: ISO/IEC 17025:2017 (full clause coverage §4–§8), NIST GUM / TN 1297 (complete uncertainty methodology), VIM JCGM 200:2012 (500+ metrology definitions), ASQ CCT Body of Knowledge (all domains), NCSLI RP-1 through RP-12 (recommended practices), ANSI/NCSL Z540.3 (decision rules and guard banding), A2LA R205/P102 (accreditation guidance), and JCGM 106 (conformity assessment).
Core standards (ISO 17025, GUM, CCT BoK, VIM) are available to all plans. Advanced corpus (NCSLI RP, A2LA, Z540.3, JCGM 106) requires Professional+.
Yes — always. Every response includes the specific citation: clause number, section, definition ID, or table reference. Citations follow APA 7th Edition format for academic and quality-system use. MetTutor can render any source as a fully formatted APA reference ready to paste into a bibliography, lab report, or training record.
For details on how citations are built from catalog metadata without reproducing copyrighted content, see the Citation Integrity & Copyright page.
The MetTutor content team monitors revision cycles for all indexed standards. When a standard is revised, the MetLibrary is updated in a versioned manner — the prior edition is archived and the new edition becomes the active default. Account holders are notified when a standard they actively use is updated.
Explorer (Free) — AI tutor with MetLibrary citations, 3 daily quiz questions, SI converter, simplified TUR calculator, speech I/O, light/dark themes. Free forever, no credit card.
Student — Everything in Explorer plus unlimited quiz, 125-question CCT mock exam, SM-2 spaced repetition with goal-date pacing, mastery badges, Study Achievement Record (PDF), and BoK-aligned practice drills.
Professional — Everything in Student plus GUM Uncertainty Budget, Gage R&R, decision rules & guard banding, document generation (.docx, .xlsx, PDF), saved conversations, Context Panel, Document Navigator mode, and the full advanced standards corpus.
Team Manager — A management license with one Professional seat for the admin, plus Team Dashboard, member progress oversight, SRS engagement monitoring, and Training Activity Report (PDF). Member licenses purchased separately.
Organization — Everything in Team Manager plus multi-team hierarchy, sub-team creation, Team Manager assignment, aggregate cross-team reporting, and multi-admin support. Team Manager and member licenses purchased separately.
Team Manager and Organization are management licenses — not seat bundles. Each team member purchases (or is purchased) their own Student or Professional license independently. This lets you match licenses to roles: engineers might get Professional for uncertainty budgets, while new hires get Student for exam prep. Same team, different licenses, optimized spend.
Upgrading takes effect immediately — all features of the higher plan become available instantly. Downgrading takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle; current plan features remain active until then. Your account history, saved conversations, and exported records are retained.
All plans include five basic export formats for any MetTutor response: Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx), PDF, CSV, and TXT. These capture the text of a single response with formatting preserved.
Professional+ adds native document generation — purpose-built, richly structured artifacts (uncertainty budgets, procedure templates, lab reports) saved to the My Documents library. Native generation also supports Markdown (.md) and JSON (.json) output.
Every response includes an Export button. Click it, select your format, and the file downloads directly. For multi-step problems like uncertainty budgets, the export captures the entire solution with all citations preserved.
You can cancel your subscription at any time from your Account page on MetTutor.com. There is no cancellation fee. Your plan remains fully active until the end of your current billing period — no future charges after cancellation. After cancellation, your account reverts to the free Explorer plan.
Cancellation does not entitle you to a refund for any unused portion of the current billing period. For full details, see the Refunds & Returns Policy.
Go to mettutor.ai and click Sign In, then select “Forgot password?” and enter your account email. You’ll receive a reset link within a few minutes. If the email doesn’t arrive, check your spam folder. If the issue persists, contact support at info@aimetrologist.com.
Yes. All sessions are encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest. Uploaded documents are processed securely within your session and are never used to train MetTutor’s AI models or shared with third parties. Each user account has an isolated retrieval context — your documents are never accessible to other users.
All billing, license management, renewals, and cancellations are handled on MetTutor.com — not MetTutor.ai. Visit mettutor.com and go to My Account to manage your subscription, view order history, and access license codes.
Every answer cites its MetLibrary source. If an answer appears incorrect, first check the cited clause directly in the source standard — metrology standards often contain context-dependent nuance. If the answer is genuinely incorrect, use the thumbs down feedback button and describe the discrepancy. The content team reviews all flagged responses within one business day.
The most common issue: the email address on your MetTutor.com purchase must match the email on your MetTutor.ai account. If they don’t match, activation will not succeed. Also verify you’re pasting the complete license code without extra spaces. If the issue persists, contact support at info@aimetrologist.com with your order number.
Document upload (Professional+) supports .pdf, .docx, .txt, and .csv files up to 10 MB. Common issues: scanned image-only PDFs require OCR conversion before upload (MetTutor needs a text layer); files over 10 MB should be split or optimized; unsupported formats (.xlsx, .pptx) should be converted to PDF or CSV first.
Try these steps in order: (1) Refresh the page — session history auto-saves. (2) Check your internet connection. (3) Clear browser cache and cookies, then reload. (4) Try a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari). If the issue persists, contact support at info@aimetrologist.com with your browser/OS version and the approximate time the problem started.
Email: info@aimetrologist.com — response within one business day. Include your account email, order number (if applicable), and a description of the issue. For plan details and feature questions, visit mettutor.com/plans and mettutor.com/features.
