U
What is metrological traceability, and why does ISO 17025 require it?
M
Metrological traceability is the property of a measurement result whereby the result can be related to a reference through a documented, unbroken chain of calibrations — each contributing to measurement uncertainty.
ISO 17025:2017 §6.6 requires laboratories to establish traceability of measurement results to the SI through an unbroken chain of calibrations to national or international measurement standards.
ISO 17025:2017 §6.6 · VIM 2.41
