I love to measure things!
I have a hat. I have glasses.
I carry my field book everywhere I go.
Measuring helps us know things!
It tells us how big, how small,
how many, and how much.
An apple is small. A pumpkin is BIG!
Look around! Can you find something BIG? Can you find something small?
A tree is tall. A flower is short.
Stand up tall! Now crouch down small. You can be both!
A snake is looooong. A worm is short.
Look at your arm. Is it long? Look at your finger. Is it short?
A rock is heavy. A feather is light.
Pick up two toys. Which one is heavy? Which one is light?
Soup is hot. Ice is cold.
A thermometer tells us how hot or cold something is — that's measuring too!
Your feet can measure things!
Walk across the room. Count each step as you go.
"How many footsteps wide is your bedroom? Try it!" — MET
Open your hand wiiide.
Spread your fingers like a star.
That's a hand span!
A ruler has lines and numbers on it.
Rulers help us measure just right — every time the same way!
Numbers are important! They help everyone measure the SAME.
When we count, we measure.
How many fingers are on your hand?
Hold it up and count: 1 · 2 · 3 · 4 · 5!
We measure all day, every day. Look around — can you see it too?
Good measurements keep us safe.
They make things fit just right.
They help us share fairly.
"Every measurement tells a story.
That's why we measure carefully!"
You learned about big & small,
tall & short,
heavy & light,
and how to use rulers, hand spans, and footsteps to measure.
Now you are an explorer too. Keep measuring!
Now it's your turn, little explorer. Pick a mission and try it today!
